Chris Hemsworth recently teased some of the new locales and changes coming to Netflix’s Extraction franchise with the sequel.
Hemsworth posted a video featuring him and the movie’s director, Sam Hargrave, riding a train through a blizzard in Prague. If the snow itself wasn’t a big enough hint for how Extraction and Extraction 2 will differ, the actor explained, “Two things are very different from the last film. One… very, very cold. Two… I’m alive. How? You’ll have to find out. Stay tuned.”

The Extraction films are based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo. The first movie depicts Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake, an Australian black-ops mercenary, who is recruited by an Indian drug lord to rescue his kidnapped son. Netflix released the film on April 24, 2020, and it went on to become the streaming service’s most-watched original movie with a reported 99 million households during its first four weeks.
Extraction also received generally positive reviews. Though some critics were mixed about the overall plot, the majority praised the movie for its performances, action sequences and cinematography. It even was nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature category at the 19th Visual Effects Society Awards.
- Currently, there isn’t an official release date for Extraction 2, but Extraction is available to stream on Netflix.
